Jonathan Halevi has been conducting research on terrorism and radical Islam in Canada since 2006. In December 2014, he testified before the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development in the House of Commons, about the threat of the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) to Canada and the West. Also in 2014, he was invited to Ottawa, London and Washington to brief MP's and congressmen on UNRWA's ties with Hamas and other Palestinian terrorists. His findings have triggered national media coverage and a police investigation of a Canadian-Palestinian organization.Through his organization, The Canadian Centre for Intelligence and Analysis (CCIA), he provided information on Canadian nationals who are either sympathizers of terrorist organizations or suspected of involvement in terrorism.
Mr. Halevi was a regular contributor on issues relating to Islamic terrorism in Canada and the Middle East on Sun News Network. He also appeared on CTV, CBC, TVO and CTS. He is also the co-founder and editor of the Canadian Investigative Journal – CIJnews.com.
Fluent in Arabic, and thoroughly knowledgeable of Arab culture, he serves as a senior analyst of the Middle East and Radical Islam at the Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs, which is headed by Dr. Dore Gold, former Director General of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israeli Ambassador to the UN and political adviser to Israel's Prime Minister.
Born in Israel, he served as Lieutenant Colonel in the IDF's Intelligence and was adviser to the Policy Planning Division of the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is a special consultant to the Terror Victims Litigation Project , representing American citizens harmed by terrorist actions in the Middle East and a co-founder of the Orient Research Group Ltd., a strategic and private information services company.
Mr. Halevi is a graduate of Tel Aviv University (B.A.) and Bar Ilan University (M.A) in Middle East studies. He is fluent in Hebrew, English and Arabic and has a working knowledge of French, Persian, Spanish and has started learning Urdu.
